With a legal team of 150 experts, as well as approximately 100 employees in support functions, Walder Wyss is one of Switzerland’s most prominent law firms. With offices in Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Berne, Lausanne and Lugano, the firm is able to provide “first-rate” services to national and international clients in all language regions of the country. The firm prides itself on the high quality of its practitioners, its creativity and its multi-disciplinary teams, all of which allow them to provide quick and reliable services to clients. Walder Wyss maintains its position this year as a leading Swiss firm, with 58 listings across 21 practice areas.  


The firm’s strongest performance is in the TMT chapter, where is achieves an impressive seven listings. The technology sector has been a particular growth area this year, an area of the sector to which the firm provides technical expertise and new solutions. Mark Reutter is a “very pragmatic” practitioner who acts on behalf of both Swiss and international clients. Alongside him, the “terrific” Jürg Schneider specialises in TMT matters within cross-border and international contexts. Didier Sangiorgio is renowned in the field for his “vast experience” dealing with comprehensive system integration and global outsourcing projects.

Arbitration is another practice area in which the firm is well represented, with five listings. They offer clients a broad range of advisory and representation services in both domestic and international arbitration proceedings. Dieter Hofmann is commended for his “careful handling of complex cases”, and also receives recognition for his work in the fields of commercial litigation and product liability defence. The “talented” Maurice Courvoisier acts on behalf of clients in arbitration and litigation proceedings regarding a wide range of commercial and corporate legal matters. The “fantastic” Micha Bühler is praised for his work in the both arbitration and government contract law.

The firm also achieves five nominations in the field of construction and real estate. Its practice consists of both lawyers and tax experts, allowing it to deliver “efficient and top-tier” legal advice. Francis Nordmann is regarded as a “prominent figure” in the sector, and is also noted in our chapter for management, labour and employment. He is joined by Thomas Müller-Tschumi who, according to sources, is an “expert” when it comes to public-private partnerships and real estate issues. Johannes Bürgi also achieves listings for his work in banking and capital markets, and is revered as a “leading figure” in the field.

Five leading lawyers achieve nominations in our corporate tax chapter, including Marcus Desax, who provides “sound” and “astute” counsel to clients. Thomas Meister is head of the firm’s tax team, and is described as a “formidable” advocate. The “excellent” Maurus Winzap focuses particularly on corporate reorganisations, structured finance and tax planning.

The firm’s private client practice provides a range of services, including corporate succession, relocation support, estate planning, and matrimonial property support. The “distinguished” Philippe Pulfer is one of five practitioners at the firm to be recognised for their work in the field. He is joined by the “exceptional” Kinga Weiss, as well as Olivier Sigg, who is recognised for his expertise in cross-border matters.

Urs Schenker is an “outstanding” practitioner, and garners listings in four chapters, including capital markets, corporate governance, M&A, and restructuring and insolvency. He is known for his “unsurpassed experience” in business and commercial law – fields he regularly lectures on at the University of St Gallen.
