Shook, Hardy & Bacon elects Madeleine McDonough as chair
Madeleine McDonough has been elected by the partners of Shook Hardy & Bacon to a five-year term as chair, beginning 1 January 2017.
Her predecessor John Murphy, who has led the firm for 15 years, comments: “It has been a wonderful 15-year run, and I am excited to turn the reins over to an individual who is well-equipped to lead Shook into the future.” Murphy refers to McDonough as a “star” and states he is “excited to see what she will accomplish”.
McDonough is also highly regarded from a client viewpoint. Joseph Spagnardi, executive vice president, legal and compliance at Shionogi, describes her as “a deeply experienced listener, an extraordinary assessor of priorities and a trusted adviser and confidant.”
Malini Moorthy, vice president and associate general counsel at Bayer, states: “She weaves together seemingly disparate objectives to achieve long-term solutions, not only for her clients but for the industry.”
PD Villarreal, senior vice president for global litigation at GlaxoSmithKline, describes McDonough as “brilliant, innovative, with enormous integrity”. He comments: “Shook has made a fine choice.”
