Law firm merger creates legal powerhouse in the Baltic States

Two leading firms from the Baltic States have combined to create the new law firm Ellex. The Riga and Vilnius offices of LAWIN, as well as the Estonia office of Raidla Lejins & Norcous, have rebranded as Raidla Ellex, Klavins Ellex and Valiunas Ellex.

Leaders at the firm have expressed their “delight” at the new alliance, stating that it will enable clients to access the “highest-quality legal services” and help them find innovative legal solutions which are “not available elsewhere”.

“By bringing the top three firms in the region together we combine unparalleled experience [and] broad vision with the highest-quality legal services and a large number of professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds,” says Filips Klavins, managing partner of Klavins Ellex. “Whether they are working locally, regionally or internationally, clients can rely on Ellex to help them access the market with utmost focus and clarity.”

Raidla Ellex, formerly Raidla Lejins & Norcous, is one of the oldest law firms in Estonia. Established in 1993, the firm has been involved several of the major M&A and financing transactions as well as landmark disputes in Estonia.

Klavins Ellex in Latvia, previously LAWIN Riga, was established in 1992 and comprises a 34-lawyer team offering clients´ full legal services in all areas of business law. In recent years, the firm has been involved in some of the most innovative domestic and international M&A, commercial real estate, and financial transactions in the Baltics.

Lithuania’s Valiunas Ellex, previously LAWIN Vilnius, has a solid portfolio of cross-border experience both in international projects and landmark local deals in the region. Formed in 1992, the firm boasts over 90 legal professionals and a broad variety of practice areas.

“Working within highly competitive markets we have to always seek for ways and synergies to deliver even more value to our clients,” said Rolandas Valiunas, managing partner of Valiunas Ellex. “We are glad to bring together the strongest firms in the Baltics, who share the same vision and values with respect to clients and the legal profession as a whole.”
