New general counsel appointment for North American Title Group
Jefferson Howeth has joined North American Title Group (NATG) as senior vice president and general counsel. He is based at the company’s branch in Dallas and travels regularly to its corporate office in Miami, overseeing all legal and compliance functions of the company’s title insurance underwriter and agency subsidiaries.
Howeth joins from PulteGroup where he served as vice president and deputy general counsel for its subsidiaries PGP Title and Premier Land Title Insurance. He has also previously worked at Commerce Title and Closing Services as senior vice president and general counsel, and spent nine years at Centex in general counsel roles. He began his career at law firms in Tulsa and Dallas before moving into the corporate sector.
"We are excited to have Jeff join our team as general counsel," said Tom Fischer, president of NATG. "The combination of Jeff's high ethical standards, extensive experience in national title and underwriting matters, and deep experience in the business of title insurance through numerous business cycles will prove to be an invaluable asset to our company as we continue to expand our businesses over the coming years."
"I am grateful to be part of the North American Title team," said Howeth. "With extensive title agency operations throughout the nation, an underwriter that is aggressively expanding its reach and an experienced and capable management team, the opportunities for challenging work and professional growth are substantial. I look forward to contributing to the company's continued success."
North American Title is among the largest real estate title insurance underwriters in the USA. With over 1000 associates in both agent and underwriter roles based across offices in 16 states, NAT has over $10.3 billion in assets.
