Kennedys expands aerospace practice through merger with international firm
Top transport firm Gates and Partners has merged with international law firm Kennedys to create a global entity of 1,120 practitioners with a partner count of 176.
Known as Kennedys, the firm will be led by senior partner Nick Thomas, who says:
“This merger enables us to do what we do best: dedicate ourselves to a particular sector and add real value by combining legal knowledge and industry insight.”
Gates and Partners was globally recognised for its specialist aviation and aerospace capabilities. The combined has boosted the Kennedys Aviation team to over 60 people including 20 partners with a greater international reach including offices in the Asia Pacific region, Latin America, Middle East and Europe.
The combined firm will also benefit from strengths in regulatory and competition, employment, finance, liability, insurance and dispute resolution services.
Sean Gates, former senior partner at Gates and Partners who is retiring this summer, says he is proud of what the firm has achieved.
“I leave the firm in a tremendously strong position; Gates and Partners has carved out a position as the only international law firm wholly dedicated to the aviation and aerospace sectors and it will now be able to grow further, benefitting from Kennedys international platform, wider legal expertise and its strong sector focus.”
