Middle Eastern arbitration specialist joins Ginestié Magellan in Paris
Ginestié Magellan Paley-Vincent is the new home to French-Lebanese arbitration practitioner Jalal (Jil) El-Ahdab.
Jalal (Jil) El-Ahdab
After nine years at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe in Paris, El-Ahdab joins the smaller 40-lawyer firm because of its scope to provide more arbitrator appointments: “I am deeply grateful to Orrick for giving me the means to develop an arbitration practice,” says El-Ahdab. “It was time, however, I left to forge my own path.”
El-Ahdab’s practice focuses on complex international litigation and international and investment arbitration.
One of his career highlights includes working for five years on a multi-jurisdictional battle between French telecommunications company Vivendi and Polish holding company Elektrim where he helped Vivendi co-ordinate arbitration and court proceedings in several European cities, before the case settled in 2011.
Robert Pe, a partner in Orrick’s Hong Kong office, says, “Jil is a dedicated and enthusiastic international arbitration practitioner with a deep knowledge of and familiarity with the Arab world and Arab culture. I wish him every success at Ginestié.”
El-Ahdab is listed in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration.
