Baker Hostetler employs expert labour lawyer in Houston

Baker Hostetler LLP has announced that Dennis Duffy has joined the employment and labour department in its Houston office.

He arrives from Baker Botts LLP.

Duffy is highly experienced in several aspects of employment law, including defending allegations of discrimination, unfair labour practices, complaints and wrongful discharge. In the advisory area, he has previously handled global corporate human resources issues, provided counsel and training on how to prevent and manage workplace legal issues, and advised organisations on ways to avoid escalation and litigation

Ronald Linville, chair of Baker Hostetler’s national employment and labour group, said that employment law has been an ‘”historic strength” at the firm and that Duffy is an “outstanding” addition to the team. “His extensive experience in the field of labour and employee relations broadens and deepens our capabilities and enhances the counsel we deliver to our clients,” he goes on to say.

Duffy also brings a considerable measure of in-house expertise to the firm having previously served as vice president and associate general counsel for labour and employment at Time Warner. Prior to that, he served as general counsel of the University of Houston System and was the first general counsel of the US Office of Compliance.

“Dennis is a tremendous addition to our office here in Houston,” said managing partner of Baker Hostetler’s Houston office Lisa Pennington. “His knowledge, experience and reputation further strengthen our already strong employment and labour group in Houston and across the country.”

Commenting on his new post, Duffy adds: “I look forward to working with Lisa and everyone in the Houston office and across the firm as we work to expand the reach of Baker Hostetler’s nationally recognised employment and labour practice.”

Duffy is listed in The International Who’s Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers.
