Fangda Partners launches Hong Kong office with Peter Yuen
Peter Yuen has left Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer after 16 years to set up the Hong Kong office of Fangda Partners, which will be called Fangda Partners in association with Peter Yuen & Associates.
He will be joined by two associates from different firms.
Yuen has particular experience in national and international arbitration. He regularly acts for clients in complex commercial disputes before the Hong Kong court and in cross-border multi-jurisdictional disputes. On the regulatory side, he has conducted a number of corporate internal investigations in Hong Kong and in China.
Fangda partner Jonathan Zhou says: “A Hong Kong office will give us a platform to tap the overseas legal markets besides providing better access to international clients who are based there,” he says. “We are fortunate to find someone like Peter who shares this vision and has the right profile and intellectual calibre to execute it.”
Lucy Reed, co-head of Freshfields’ international arbitration practice, said: “We shall miss Peter, who is a talented litigator, but we understand his desire to have a fully Chinese practice. We wish him well and know we will continue working together.”
Yuen is listed in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration.
