Canadian shipping specialist joins top international practice

Maritime specialist Wylie Spicer QC has joined Norton Rose Canada as part of its new Canadian North and Arctic team.

He arrives from McInnes Cooper where he was managing partner from 2001-2006.

Joining as counsel, Spicer is well known for his work advising in offshore energy and shipping matters. For over 30 years he has worked with several companies involved in the offshore oil and gas industry, including Rowan Companies, Secunda Canada LP and J Ray McDermott.

Spicer is also a past president of the Canadian Bar Association for Nova Scotia.

John Coleman, managing partner of Norton Rose Canada, says that Spicer is a “tremendous addition” to the firm’s transport and energy teams. “We will soon be launching a dedicated Canadian North and Arctic law team to support our clients’ growing interest for this part of the world, and Wylie will be an important part of it. His unique skill set will perfectly complement the international offshore practice of our group,” he notes.

Spicer is listed in The International Who’s Who of Shipping & Maritime Lawyers.
