James Carter joins WilmerHale in New York
James Carter has joined the New York office of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP as senior counsel in the international arbitration group.

He joins from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP where he was co-chair of the international arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution group.
With over 40 years in legal practice, Carter is widely recognised as an expert in his field having served as arbitrator or counsel in more than 100 arbitrations worldwide gaining acknowledgement as a leading lawyer in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration.
His recent caseload includes representing a Japanese mining equipment company in an ICDR arbitration in New York and advising a Canadian gold mining company in UNCITRAL Rules arbitration with the Kyrgyz Republic in Stockholm.
In addition he has significant experience in joint venture, international trade, intellectual property, securities and investment disputes.
