Most Highly Regarded Firms: Florida 2007 - Corporate Governance

Five years on from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, its effects are still being felt in boardrooms across the US, and corporate governance remains high on the agenda. Outside counsel continue to provide clients with guidance, advice and representation, and our research has identified 18 individuals from 11 firms who have proven track records in this field, and can counsel corporations on issues arising in routine operations and in extraordinary transactions.

Most Highly Regarded Firms: Singapore 2007 - Insolvency & Restructuring

While Singapore’s economy continues to flourish, there nonetheless remains an ongoing level of demand for insolvency and restructuring expertise in the local legal market. This chapter identifies 15 outstanding lawyers from seven firms who are considered leaders in this field for creditors, debtors and the full range of other related work.

Most Highly Regarded Firms: Singapore 2007 - Insurance & Reinsurance

The insurance and reinsurance industry in Singapore is inextricably tied to the shipping sector, a fact highlighted by the presence of several lawyers in both chapters. The eight we feature in this chapter are considered to be leading lights when it comes to advising local and international clients on the wide array of issues insurance law touches on. While a number advise both insurers and reinsurers on the drafting of new policies, others work on matters concerning insurance claims and recoveries. This chapter also identifies lawyers with experience representing underwriters, reinsurers, intermediaries and corporate insureds on regulatory and corporate matters.

As previous chapters have mentioned, Singapore is an important regional hub in many fields. The situation is no different in the oil and gas sector – several of the lawyers we identify here are active in nearby countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,Thailand, and Vietnam. Our research also indicates that the large international players dominate the market, with practitioners from UK, US and Australian firms all appearing in this chapter.

As previous chapters have mentioned, Singapore is an important regional hub in many fields. The situation is no different in the oil and gas sector – several of the eight lawyers we identify here are active in nearby countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines,Thailand, and Vietnam. Our research also indicates that the large international players dominate the market, with practitioners from UK, US and Australian firms all appearing in this chapter.

Most Highly Regarded Firms: Singapore 2007 - Patents

In this chapter we highlight 13 leading practitioners in Singapore from 10 firms. Singapore has a thriving intellectual property market: 9,164 patent applications were filed there in 2006, according to figures published by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). A number of the individuals selected for this chapter also feature in the trademarks chapter.

Most Highly Regarded Firms: Singapore 2007 – Project Finance

Seventeen professionals at 12 firms make up our project finance chapter. These practitioners have an established track record representing sponsors and lenders in project financing and refinancing deals. With significant government funding aimed at economic development and a free-enterprise economy there is no shortage of project finance work in Singapore. A number of practitioners listed below also appear in the oil and gas chapter, highlighting the importance of this industry in the regional market.
