Italy: Competition 2018

The inaugural research into the Italian competition market sees 27 outstanding individuals nominated for their work in the field. The practitioners listed have a strong footprint in the European and domestic markets, advising on matters such as abuse of dominance, cartels and merger control among others.

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton holds a prominent position in the Italian market, with its practitioners receiving high praise from respondents to our research this year. The firm receives five listings this year for their outstanding work in the field of competition.
Mario Siragusa has a formidable reputation both in Italy and abroad, with market sources praising him highly across our research. He is one of the most highly regarded lawyers in this space, and his work covers a range of matters including antitrust litigation and state aid.

Another outstanding name at the firm, Francesco Anglani is also ranked as one of the most highly regarded in the field. He has extensive insight into European competition law matters, with issues such as distribution and regulatory compliance being areas of particular expertise.
Sara Lembo is well thought of by peers in the competition space and has an impressive practice advising both domestic and international clients on matters including abuse of dominance, state aid and merger control.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Gian Luca Zampa is greatly respected by colleagues in the Italian market and also maintains a strong international reputation. His wide-ranging practice sees him advise clients on matters including merger control, state aid, vertical agreements and cartels.

Alberto Pera of Gianni Origoni Grippo Cappelli & Partners is a renowned name in the Italian market with outstanding experience from his time as secretary general of the Italian Competition Authority. As founder of the firm’s competition practice, he has an enviable practice which includes advising on privatisations and regulatory matters.

At Rucellai & Raffaelli, Enrico Adriano Raffaelli has exceptional insight into Italian competition matters with over 40 years’ experience in the field. His practice sees him represent multinationals in a range of sectors including media, pharmaceuticals and insurance.

“A brilliant and experienced lawyer” Davide Cacchioli of Pedersoli E Associati “combines outstanding legislative practice with a deep understanding of businesses’ needs”, say sources.
