Clifford Chance receives three listings in this year’s chapter. Uwe Hornung is highly recommended by his peers for his experience as a litigator. He has international experience in the medical, electronics, energy and real estate sectors amongst others. Head of the German litigation and dispute resolution practice Burkhard Schneider is listed for his expertise in banking and finance litigation as well as securities matters. The “esteemed” Sebastian Rakob is an international fraud litigation specialist involving asset recovery from white-collar crimes. He also assists corporations and financial institutions with transactional-related litigation.

Baker & McKenzie achieves three listings. Dispute resolution team leader Guenter Pickrahn deals with all manner of national and international litigation disputes and has acted in arbitrations as chairman and arbitrator. He is “very well versed in dispute resolution” according to interviewees. Joerg Risse is one of Germany’s most accomplished litigators and has a range of clients in the chemical, transport and life sciences industry. He frequently acts in complex arbitrations. Juergen Mark is described by his peers as “a superb litigator and arbitrator". He acts in commercial and corporate cases, with notable expertise in product liability and construction matters.

Hengeler Mueller also has three listings. According to his peers Markus Meier stands “at the top of the German litigation scene". He handles complex commercial litigation covering areas such as banking and finance, IT and corporate law. Peter Heckel has experience in industrial, banking and military procurement litigation and is “very well thought of in the market”. Matthias Blaum handles cross-border litigation for major corporations on a range of commercial matters.

At Hogan Lovells, Detlef Hass has deep expertise and experience in complex disputes involving the automotive and technology industries, in particular in insolvency cases. Karl Pörnbacher represents clients in commercial litigation in numerous industries with a focus on the energy sector. He is also frequently appointed as arbitrator on energy-related cases across Europe. Alexander Loos focuses on domestic litigation, particularly in the energy space, with notable expertise in solar and power-plant matters.

Michael Molitoris at Noerr is head of litigation and focuses his practice on damage claims and commercial disputes. Peers call him "one of the most prominent product liability lawyers" in the country. Oliver Sieg is noted as a “very promising litigator" for his experience in complex cross-border litigation and arbitration proceedings.

Gleiss Lutz’s Stefan Rützel is one of the most nominated practitioners in our research, with sources calling him “one of the litigation and arbitration hotshots”. He focuses on banking and finance disputes. Stephan Wilske has an in-depth knowledge of competition litigation and also advises on disputes involving M&A and joint ventures.

At Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Rolf Trittmann is “an outstanding litigator” who deals with large-scale disputes from M&A disputes and compliance matters. He has particular expertise in the automotive industry. Thomas Kreifels proficiently handles disputes in industrial and corporate matters including product recall and cartel issues.

Haver & Mailänder sees the “longstanding and exceptionally good” Klaus-Albrecht Gerstenmaier listed as one of our highest-ranking individuals. He specialises in corporate and M&A transactions and has over 20 years’ experience. Rolf Winkler represents clients before state courts and before national and international arbitration tribunals. He is “highly distinguished, one of the best”.

Two lawyers at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek are highlighted. Ulrike Gantenberg is considered by her peers to be one of the foremost dispute resolution specialists in Germany, while Wolfgang Kühn is "a seasoned and accomplished lawyer" who "displays excellent judgement".
