Clifford Chance comes out at the top of our research with five listings and sees two of its lawyers among our most highly nominated. Christian Keilich is a “vastly experienced lawyer” who advises investors and companies on cross-border real estate transactions and acquisitions, including project finance mandates. The “extremely knowledgeable” Klaus Minuth has experience in large-scale portfolio and sale-and-leaseback transactions assists clients with leases and financings. Cornelia Thaler advises on complex transactions in real estate including portfolio transactions and sale and leaseback deals. She is a “highly accomplished real estate lawyer”. Fabian Böhm is recommended by numerous sources as “a strong negotiator with the client´s interests in mind” who “shows the greatest attention to detail”. He advises domestic and international clients on the investment and sale of real estate portfolios.
Four lawyers from Hogan Lovells are listed. In Frankfurt, Hinrich Thieme is recognised as “a real expert” in real estate transactions and project financing, with a strong commercial law background. In Düsseldorf, Roland Bomhard has experience in financing, transactions and project finance and is considered “highly commercially aware”. Dirk Debald in Hamburg is an expert in real estate relating to commercial tenancy and covers all aspects of property law. Marc Werner is recommended by his peers for his decades of experience in the hotel industry, where he “always gives solutions to fit the clients’ needs”.
Greenberg Traurig achieves three recommendations. Christian Schede chairs the firm’s real estate practice in Germany. He handles an array of infrastructure and project financing mandates. Florian Rösch represents and advises clients on a range of real estate matters, including retail and office properties. He is recognised as “a dynamic lawyer with strong industry experience”. Peter Schorling advises on M&A deals involving private equity and venture capital in the field of real estate.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer sees two of its lawyers listed as some of the most highly regarded practitioners in our research. Global real estate group leader Johannes Conradi is listed once again for his expertise across retail, mixed-use and office property transactions, acting for a varied roster of clients including investors, developers and public sector bodies. The “highly respected” Niko Schultz-Süchting advises on all aspects of real estate with a particular focus on transactions. He “provides the right information on real estate financing and knows the market”. Thorsten Kleine handles a range of real estate transactions and also assists clients with real estate matters relating to IPOs and other investments. Sources note him as a “very strong performer in negotiations” and highlight his “ability to come up with creative solutions to complex problems”.
At CMS Hasche Sigle, Heinz Joachim Kummer is “a big player in the real estate market" who focuses on complex transactional, development, asset management, financial and regulatory issues. Heinrich Schirmer has expertise in project finance and asset management and has advised on both private equity transactions and joint ventures. Volker Zerr advises national and international clients on an array of real estate transactions. He has notable in-house experience in addition to 17 years spent in private practice.
Berwin Leighton Paisner achieves two listings. Roland Fabian has experience in cross-border real estate with a particular emphasis on tax issues regarding acquisition structures and vehicles. He is “a leading expert on real estate tax issues”. The “excellent” Hanns-William Mülsch focuses on real estate transactions by private equity and investment funds and is also a registered notary. He is regarded as “technically very precise”.
Tim Weber at Gleiss Lutz is recommended by peers for his experience in real estate portfolio transactions. He is noted for his “determination and good negotiating skills”.
