Celso Xavier “shows great commercial awareness”, and is described by clients as “invaluable”.

Pinheiro Neto Advogados sees two of its lawyers included. Gilberto Giusti has experience in domestic and international commercial arbitration, having acted as counsel and arbitrator in numerous proceedings. He has “a wealth of experience” and is “a formidable opponent”, say peers. Renato Stephan Grion is a “dynamic and considered lawyer” who has considerable experience in commercial arbitration in both international and domestic settings. He has a wide experience of major arbitration institutions across the globe.

At Escritório de Advocacia Sergio Bermudes two individuals are recommended. Founding partner Sergio Bermudes is considered to be “pre-eminent” in the field. Mauricio Almeida Prado has represented a variety of companies in arbitration cases over two decades, and has earned a reputation as someone who “works hard for his clients” and someone who can “draw from a wide wide-ranging knowledge and demonstrates strong commercial awareness”. 

 At Batista Martins Advogados, founding partner Pedro Batista Martins is recommended for his “peerless work in Brazilian arbitration”.

 Eleonora Coelho of Eleonora Coelho Advogados is also highly regarded in our research. She is “an innovative practitioner, who really thinks of all options to reach a good solution”.

Marcelo Roberto Ferro of Ferro Castro Neves Daltro & Gomide Advogados is described as “an astute lawyer” who is “highly well-regarded in the dispute resolution sphere”.

At Jose Emilio Nunes Pinto Advogados José Emilio Nunes Pinto, founding partner of the firm, is seen as a thought leader who offers “an academic level of knowledge on arbitration procedure”. He is also respected for his work in helping to create the Brazilian Committee on Arbitration.

Carlos Alberto Carmona of Marques Rosado Toledo Cesar & Carmona Advogados is a high-ranking name in our research. He has acted as arbitrator at numerous centres and demonstrates “a strong understanding of commercial issues”.

André de Albuquerque Cavalcanti Abbud at Barbosa Müssnich & Aragão has dealt with commercial disputes involving multinationals before both major arbitral institutions and ad hoc proceedings. He is “vastly experienced” and is “a real strategist”.

 Rodrigo Garcia da Fonseca of Fonseca e Salles Lima Advogados Associados has acted as counsel and arbitrator in arbitral proceedings both in Brazil and internationally for over two decades. He is considered to be “a seasoned arbitrator with a depth of knowledge about arbitral procedure”.
