Patent law is a core practice area at Meyerlustenberger Lachenal. The firm advises clients in the implementation of patent strategies, as well as providing representation in litigation before all Swiss courts and in the coordination of cross-border litigation, particularly in the life sciences sector. Head of the firm’s patents and life sciences group Simon Holzer is seen as “a new superstar” of patent disputes in the country with a very impressive client portfolio.  Michael Ritscher is highly active in multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and enforcement, and is well known among his peers as “a tough opponent.”

Homburger’s practice stands out for the strength of its team, highlighted by three recognised senior practitioners. He is particularly well known in the technologies sector. Lenz & Staehelin ranks among the top tier of patent practices in the country. Thierry Calame was recommended numerous times by respondents who find him “particularly outstanding”. He also regarded as “one of the best patent litigators in the country.” Lara Dorigo is “terrific” and very active in patent disputes and transactions. One client was particularly impressed by her successful handling of a complex action.

Renowned IP boutique Rentsch Partner earns significant praise for its “professional and prompt handling” of complex patent matters for domestic and international clients. Christian Hilti is “certainly a leading name”. According to clients he “has the conviction and the experience to handle difficult cases.” Rudolf Rentsch is also “top-ranked” by respondents, who commend his “extraordinary knowledge of patent law.”

Patrick Troller of Troller Hitz Troller is seen as “a go-to” practitioner for complex patent litigation. He is “very well known and widely appreciated for his skill and experience”, according to one peer.

Andrea Mondini, head of the IP practice at Schellenberg Wittmer, is extensively experienced in litigation and arbitration patent disputes, particularly in the life sciences sector. Clients praise his “clear sense of strategy” and “responsiveness” in particular.

At Pestalozzi, Thomas Legler has a broad practice in intellectual property law. Sources state that he is “very intelligent, and gives clear and practical advice.”
