Austria: Capital Markets Analysis 2015
Austria has one stock exchange, the Vienna Stock Exchange, and although performance of the ATX dropped by 15.18 per cent as compared to year end 2013, 2014 also saw the successful public offering of FACC AG and a record year in terms of new corporate bond listings. For the 11 leading lawyers listed below it was an eventful year.
At Wolf Theiss, Claus Schneider concentrates his practice on debt, hybrid and structured capital market issues. He is a “creative lawyer” who has worked on some of the most innovative and first-time debt and hybrid issues in Austria. Richard Wolf leads the firm-wide banking and finance practice and is “internationally renowned” for his expertise in capital markets.
Dorda Brugger Jordis also garners two listings. Christoph Brogyanyi is a “well-reputed name” in the market while Andreas Mayr is lauded for his “consistently excellent work” in the field.
At Baker & McKenzie, head of the banking and finance practice group Georg Diwok is an “excellent” capital markets lawyer. His experience includes advising in relation to asset and portfolio structuring for securitisation purposes in the automotive and food franchising industries. Also at the firm, Philipp Spatz advises issuers, underwriters and shareholders in capital markets transactions and is “efficient” and “highly knowledgeable”.
Two lawyers represent Schoenherr. Martin Ebner has extensive experience in debt capital market transactions and derivatives and structured finance work. The “stellar” Peter Feyl is a “consummate professional” and is “held in high esteem” by peers.
Stefan Weber of Weber & Co is a “specialist” in the field. He garners praise for his “excellent style of delivery” and “close attention to detail”.
At Binder Grösswang, Florian Khol has experience advising on corporate bonds, capital increases and secondary transactions in the capital markets. He is “without doubt a key player in the market”.
Friedrich Jergitsch at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer specialises in structured finance and other capital market-related transactions. He is praised for being “commercially aware” and for “delivering results”.
