Austria: Real Estate Analysis 2015

The Austrian real estate investment market broke all records in 2014. Market volume nearly doubled compared to 2013 and at €3 billion, reached the record level of the pre-crisis years up to 2007. The increase was particularly strong in the retail property sector, followed by office properties and hotels. With increased interest from investors from Asia and the Middle East, the outlook for 2015 is also positive. Fifteen lawyers are highly recommended in this chapter. 

Three lawyers are recommended from Wolf Theiss. Peter Oberlechner concentrates on large-scale real estate developments and transactions and is a “sensational adviser” according to clients. Schoenherr Rechtsanwälte garners two listings. Peter Madl has a “sterling reputation” for his knowledge of real estate law and is a “top-notch” practitioner in the field. The “acclaimed” Michael Lagler is a “font of knowledge” on real estate law and is also praised for his “commercial acumen”.

Stefan Artner MRICS at Dorda Brugger Jordis works in the field of real estate and tenancy law and is “extremely capable”. He possesses an “international mindset” that clients truly appreciate.

Mayrhofer & Rainer Rechtsanwälte is represented by Herbert Rainer, an “accomplished lawyer” with a “resolute focus” on property law. He has a “diligent manner” and “strong technical abilities”.

Benn-Ibler Rechtsanwälte’s Stefan Eder is noted for his experience in the financing of real estate projects. He is described as “in a class of his own” by peers.

At Baier Rechtsanwälte | Attorneys At Law, Erhard Böhm concentrates on construction and dispute resolution.

Oskar Winkler at DLA Piper is noted for his real estate transactions practice. A “powerhouse of knowledge”, Winkler advises on transactions in Austria and across central and eastern Europe.

Graf & Pitkowitz is represented by Nikolaus Pitkowitz, a “transactional guru” with experience in real estate. He is also a highly regarded dispute resolution lawyer.

At Doralt Seist & Csoklich, Wilfried Seist advises on real estate and commercial property, landlord and tenant law. He is a “trusted adviser” who employs a “no-nonsense approach”.

Christian Marth at Vavrovsky Heine Marth Rechtsanwälte is a leading expert in real estate law specialising in transactions, development and tenancy and agent law.

Nemetschke Huber Koloseus Rechtsanwälte’s Alfred Nemetschke advises on real estate, project development and financing transactions. He provides “commercial advice” and has a “sharp mind”.

Andreas Grohs at Grohs Hofer Rechtsanwälte has an “impressive roster of clients” in the real estate sector and enjoys a “prestigious reputation” in the field.
