Our senior partner, Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN was a founding member and first chairman of the Capital Market Solicitors Association (CMSA). We are also counsel to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which we represent on both contentious and non-contentious matters including a suit worth over 150 million naira, concerning the exercise of the SEC’s regulatory powers on issues related to corporate governance. We are also solicitors to a renowned oil and gas company in its equity offering worth over US$500 million to Nigerian and institutional investors on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange.
In the area of banking and project finance, the firm currently represents several Nigerian banks in wide-ranging transactions, including an alleged tort action arising from a banker/customer relationship with claim of damages amounting to 2 billion naira. We are also representing a client in a debt recovery litigation arising from an unsuccessful project finance transaction worth over 2 billion naira, as well as a bank of international repute on a debt equity swap worth over US$100 million.
On insolvency and restructuring, we represent three telecommunication companies, all creditors to NITEL, in the process of recovery of debt worth over 16 billion naira owed to them following the winding-up of NITEL. We also represent a client in a 2.4 billion naira suit concerning the restructuring of a Nigerian bank and claims of securities fraud. We are acting as Nigerian solicitors to a foreign client, and giving advice on a dispute arising from default in repayment of a syndicated loan facility worth US$150 million.
