The firm boasts a strong corporate tax department. Hans Severin Hansen is head of the tax law department and a “well-known figure” both domestically and internationally. He conducts a large number of cases before the Danish courts, the European Court of Justice, the National Tax Tribunal and the National Tax Board. Nikolaj Bjørnholm stands out for his “exceptional tax litigation skills” while Lasse Esbjerg Christensen advises on a wide range of tax matters and is considered an “authority” on tax and company law issues for state-authorised public accountants and financial players.

Capital markets is a strong suit for the firm. Jacob Bier, head of the equity capital markets practice, has “superb skills” in the corporate finance area. He deals primarily with mergers and acquisitions, stock market and securities, private equity and venture capital. Thomas Holst Laursen, also a corporate finance expert, deals with securities law and capital markets law as well as M&A and joint ventures.

Søren Thyssen Valerius is a “trusted source of advice” and his clients include Danish and foreign banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and pension funds. He is also skilled in handling regulatory issues applicable to financial services companies.

 Plesner also excels in the area of life sciences. Name partner Peter-Ulrik Plesner has an “outstanding business mind” with a focus on patents. With a considerable amount of experience in litigation and arbitration proceedings, Plesner represents clients before the Danish Supreme Court, the High Court and the city courts.
Patent litigation “expert” Sture Rygaard is a “terrific” life sciences lawyer with “first rate” knowledge of Danish and EU intellectual property law.

The “brilliant” Mikkel Vittrup’s practice covers patent ligation, regulatory and transactional life sciences matters. He advises on issues in respect of medicinal products and medicinal equipment as well as on the conclusion of agreements on the development and commercialisation of technology.



Each year Plesner lawyers donate a considerable number of hours to pro bono projects. This includes providing free legal advice to organisations that support the underprivileged or marginalised persons or groups in Denmark. The firm also works alongside law students at the University of Copenhagen in a project titled “Student Volunteers” to jointly provide pro bono advice to five selected Danish relief organisations focusing on children.
