Marval is consistently involved in some of the largest and most complex financial transactions in Argentina. Chairman of the firm Alfredo O’Farrell has a broad practice including banking, corporate governance, M&A and competition law. Similarly, Santiago Carregal and Roberto Silva Jr each receive high praise in no less than five of our chapters including: banking, public procurement, capital markets, M&A and project finance. Carregal has “extensive experience” in matters relating to the capital markets and finance sphere and has represented companies and investment banks in more than 180 transactions. Silva’s “exceptional practice” focuses on privatisations, restructurings, foreign investments, capital market transactions, M&A, derivatives, securitisations, trusts and exchange controls. Also recognised in a multiple of fields is Héctor Mairal, who is an expert in dealing with company mergers, purchases and sales of banks, property development projects, formation of temporary business alliances, business contracts, loans and financing. Ricardo Beller is another “excellent” M&A and capital markets lawyer, who is involved in many large cross-border transactions in the oil and gas industry.
The firm also fields a strong patent and trademark team. Iris Quadrio is recognised in both areas and has “considerable experience” advising domestic and foreign clients on trademark and trade dress issues, including IP rights clearance, registration and management of IP portfolios and trademark opposition proceedings. Marval has been a member of the Pro Bono and Public Interest Committee since 2001, which is dedicated to providing cost-free counsel to over 200 NGOs. The firm was also an advocate for the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas which it signed in 2008. Within Marval itself, an internal committee organises and distributes the pro bono work carried out by its lawyers.
