Astigarraga Davis has represented foreign and domestic clients in commercial disputes, ranging from shareholder disputes, distributor lawsuits and other contract or business tort litigation. The firm often represents foreign litigants in obtaining discovery assistance from US courts pursuant to 28 USC Section 1782, which authorises discovery in the US to obtain evidence for use in foreign proceedings. Asset recovery and fraud prosecution
Working with an international network of contacts developed over the years, the firm seeks to preserve and recover fraudulently obtained assets transferred and concealed around the globe. Edward H Davis, Jr is a certified fraud examiner. In 2013, he won Who’s Who Legal’s “Global Lawyer of the Year” award for asset recovery, the firm’s first ever award in that field (it won again in 2014, 2015 and 2016). Financial services litigation
Astigarraga Davis has extensive litigation experience representing lenders, creditors, banks and other financial institutions in disputes. The firm represents investors in disputes arising out of investments and other financial transactions. It represents lenders and creditors domestically in bankruptcy courts in Florida and other states, and internationally in Latin America, including in multi-jurisdictional insolvencies. Practice head Gregory Grossman has broad bankruptcy experience. Experienced in the prosecutions of Chapter 15 petitions under the US Bankruptcy Code, the firm regularly represents foreign trustees seeking to enlist the aid of US bankruptcy courts to recover and prevent seizure of estate assets in the United States.
The firm also has extensive experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in commercial disputes, including in intellectual property litigation and in class action litigation.
