PEOPLE AND PRACTICES
The firm’s reputation in the aviation sector is “second to none”. Most recently, the firm advised on the project financing to fund the expansion, maintenance and operation of the Guarulhos International Airport (Governador André Franco Montoro) in São Paulo. Adolpho Julio de Carvalho is noted for his contentious and finance expertise with experience in aviation insurance. Ricardo Vieira Coelho is noted for his regulatory and finance work for clients in the aviation industry.
One of the firm’s most significant M&A deals of 2013 includes advising BTG Pactual on its acquisition of Globenet at a value of US$750 million. The “well-respected” practice includes “experts” Fernando Alves Meira, Alexandre Bertoldi and Carlos Alberto Moreira Lima Jr. Bertoldi is particularly renowned for his work in this field with clients praising his “diligent approach” to matters.
Pinheiro Neto also fields a strong corporate tax team that comprises expertise in litigation, transfer pricing, tax planning, due diligence in corporate transactions and foreign trade. Luciana Rosanova Galhardo is a “standout practitioner” in the field with a “stellar reputation”. She is described as “just fantastic” by peers. Also recommended are Giancarlo Chamma Matarazzo and Ricardo Luiz Becker.
Life sciences is a further area in which the firm possesses a highly specialised team. Angela Fan Chi Kung and Camila Martino Parise are recommended for their regulatory expertise while Sérgio Pinheiro Marçal is noted for his product liability practice.

Among the firm’s pro bono achievements is its recent involvement with Street Child United, a UK-based charity which chose the firm to assist in its incorporation of a non-profit association in Brazil and in the organisation of the 2014 Street Child World Cup project. Lawyers have been assisting with drafting and negotiating sponsorship agreements and coordinating the visas for more than 230 children from 20 countries who will be participating in the event in Rio de Janeiro in March.
