At the end of 2012 Daniel Jilkén joined Roschier as partner to head the firm’s tax and corporate structuring practice in Stockholm. This move further strengthens the firm’s position in Sweden, a market which the firm first entered in 2005.

PEOPLE AND PRACTICES
Roschier’s lawyers are experienced in both public and private M&A transactions advising clients from a host of industries including retail, healthcare, technology, media, education, automobile, energy, construction, infrastructure and mining. Head of the private M&A practice in Sweden, Malin Leffler specialises in M&A and private funds. She recently advised Koninklijke Ahold in the sale of its 60 per cent holding in ICA, the Scandinavian food retailer, to Hakon Invest. The deal value was 21.2 billion krona. Head of the public M&A and equity capital markets practices in Finland, Paula Linna is recognised for her “outstanding” work. She was recently part of a team representing Nokia Corporation in the sale of its devices and services business to Microsoft Corporation. Roschier acted as lead IP and technology counsel and key adviser on all Finnish corporate and public company related matters. Mikko Manner who is noted for his IT practice was also involved in this transaction advising on the IP aspects. Ola Åhman is head of the firm’s public M&A, equity capital markets, corporate advisory and general commercial practices in Sweden and is “top notch".
The life sciences practice comprises of “highly skilled” practitioners with “in-depth knowledge of the industry and its challenges”. Helsinki-based Rainer Hilli is the firm’s managing partner and is an “internationally renowned” IP lawyer. He is singled out for his expertise in patent litigation regularly representing pharmaceutical companies as well as his work in the area of trademarks law. Mikael Segercrantz heads the firm’s marketing and consumer law practice advising on IP, regulatory matters and litigation. Johanna Lilja became partner as of 1 June 2013 and specialises in patent litigation, she is also recognised for her work within the life sciences field.
Fredrik Rydin is recognised for his banking and project finance law capabilities. He provides “reasoned and sensible advice” and is “capable of seeing the bigger picture”. Gunnar Westerlund is also recommended for his work in the areas of banking and project finance. The Helsinki-based partner is head of the firm’s banking and debt capital markets practice and is a “recognised leader” in the field.
Head of the dispute resolution practice in Finland, Petri Taivalkoski has a broad practice covering asset recovery, business crime defence and commercial litigation. He represents clients in disputes relating to energy, product liability, construction projects, joint ventures and shareholder agreements, distribution and competition law.
One of the firm’s proudest moments of 2013 was assisting in the establishment of a new charity foundation, Aamu Suomen Lasten Syöpäsäätiö (Finnish Pediatric Cancer Foundation). The charity aims to raise funds to support the childhood cancer research in Finland and treatment of children with cancer, and was launched in March 2013 following over 250 hours of pro bono work.
