Dr Tarek F Riad, the managing partner of Kosheri, Rashed & Riad, is the chairman of the executive committee of Dubai International Arbitration Centre in addition to being an alternate member of the ICC Court of Arbitration, member of the ICC Institute Scientific Council, a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and member of ICCA. In short, the partners of K, R and R are currently involved with three arbitration institutions, the Cairo Regional Arbitration Centre, ICC Court of Arbitration and Dubai International Arbitration Center.
Dr Kosheri and the late Dr Rashed were members of the committee that drafted the current Egyptian Arbitration Law.
In his capacity as a member of the economic committee of the Supreme Policy, Dr Tarek F Riad was involved in drafting numerous Egyptian commercial laws such as the Companies Law, the Telecommunications Law, the Investment Law and the Special Economic Court Law. Dr Riad was also chair of the two committees responsible for drafting the Special Economic Court Law as well as the Companies Law.
Dr Riad has an LLB from Cairo Law School (1980) and an LLM (1982) and SJD (1985) from Harvard Law School in addition to being a member of the Egyptian Bar since 1982 and New York Bar since 1985.
Dr Riad is also professor of commercial law at the German University in Cairo.
Dr Riad has written numerous publications and articles including two books entitled The Applicable Law in Transnational Arbitration and Egyptian Companies Law, in addition to many articles about arbitration and litigation in Egypt and the legal aspects of doing business in Egypt.
In May 2011, Dr Riad was appointed as a member of the Consultative Council responsible for preparing drafts laws for the Egyptian Council of Ministries.
