Advokatfirman Vinge - The Who's Who Legal 100 2014

What is the Who's Who Legal 100?

2013 saw Vinge strengthen its IP practice with the arrival of Håkan Borgenhäll, a “sensational” patents lawyer who now heads the firm’s IP practice group in Stockholm, and Ulf Dahlgren, a “top-tier” IP lawyer. The practice was further bolstered in late 2013 with the hire of a trademarks specialist.

PEOPLE AND PRACTICES

Vinge is “very active” in the M&A market and its lawyers provide “expertise of the highest quality”. Göran Nyström is a “dedicated” practitioner who provides “effective advice”. He is also noted for his work in the debt and equity capital markets and is praised for his “ingenuity”. Michael Wigge is the firm’s former managing partner and a “trusted adviser” on M&A and corporate governance matters, particularly in relation to securities law. Carl Gustaf De Geer is “very strong” on M&A transactions and “handles complex cases with ease”. His representative work includes advising the Swedish government in relation to the privatisation and sale of state-owned companies.

The firm is a “leader” in the IT, technology and telecommunications sector and frequently advises on “cutting-edge” legal issues. Björn Gustavsson is noted for his experience in IT and technology-related transactions, outsourcing and e-commerce projects. He is also lauded for his work in the telecommunications sector. The “superb” Carl Johan af Petersens concentrates his practice on the TMT sector and is involved in a number of projects in Scandinavia including telecoms licensing, broadband networks, cable and satellite television, 3G, mobile communications and satellite systems. Johan Winnerblad is recommended for his telecoms and media expertise and recently led a team advising Nokia Growth Partners in connection with investment in MAG Interactive. Eva Fredrikson specialises in outsourcing projects, procurements of IT and communications systems, and internet and e-commerce projects. She is recognised as a “leading authority” on IT law.

The firm’s banking and finance practice includes “standouts” Stefan de Hevesy and Mikael Ståhl. Both lawyers are noted for their strong banking and project finance capabilities. De Hevesy recently advised Bain Capital and Bravida in connection with the refinancing of Bravida, including the issue of senior secured floating rate notes in the amount of 1.3 billion kronor and €225 million. Ståhl’s representative work includes advising Blue Canyon Holdings controlled by GTCR Investment X AIV in relation to the public offer to the shareholders in Cision.

Further praise goes to Christer Söderlund who garners praise for his experience in the arbitration, litigation and energy areas. In November 2013 he was appointed by the World Bank as president in an international arbitration at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

PRO BONO

The firm provides pro bono advice to a number of charitable organisations who share Vinge’s values. Some of the organisations the firm is involved with include Save the Children, Mitt Liv, Good Cause and Ashoka.

DIVERSITY

Vinge’s diversity project focuses on broadening the ethnic diversity of members of the legal profession. In order to encourage young people to pursue legal studies, the firm has chosen to concentrate on upper secondary school pupils through a project called “Working life on equal terms – a diversity project”, which is conducted in close cooperation with schools in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.

LOOKING FORWARD

Vinge’s goal is to be Sweden’s leading independent law firm and a “go-to” destination for international clients. The firm aims to continue providing a full-service offering to clients with a strategic focus on M&A and corporate finance.
