Proskauer’s labour and employment practice is well known for its exceptional work. With over 160 lawyers dedicated to the field, the firm stands out as being one of the leaders in the legal market and has acted for prestigious clients such as Paramount Pictures and The New York Times Company. The firm has 14 practitioners listed in our management labour and employment chapter, eight of whom are based in its New York office. Joseph Baumgarten is co-chair of the firm’s labour and employment department and represents a wide range of clients in complex claims. Bettina Plevan and Howard Ganz are particularly highly recommended for their work in the sports industry. Plevan has “a reputation as one of the best” and co-heads the firm’s international labour and employment group while Ganz is co-head of the sports law group and has provided “quality work” for high profile clients such as the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball. Outside of New York, Howard Shapiro in Los Angeles is a “leading specialist” who has “outstanding expertise in pensions and benefits work”. Lawrence Lorber and Ronald Meisburg are featured from the firm’s Washington, DC office. Lorber is “a leader in discrimination issues” and “always at the forefront of legislative developments”. The firm also has an excellent private funds practice which takes advantage of the diverse skills and experience of its lawyers. Nicholls is “a star” with an “impressive” practice which specialises in national and international private equity transactions. Based in New York, Bruce Lieb and Christopher Wells are both “well known in the field”. Lieb is a “key player” who is “greatly experienced” and “extremely capable at handling the most complex matters” while Wells is “technically minded” and “really knows his stuff”. He is also head of the firm’s hedge funds group. Two lawyers represent Proskauer’s London office.
