PEOPLE AND PRACTICES

The firm boasts a “first-class” banking practice. Eric Cartier-Millon is a “true expert” in structured and project finance and is involved in deals in France and abroad. He is joined by Xavier de Kergommeaux who is an “exceptionally talented, client-oriented professional” focusing on domestic and cross-border securitisations. Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville is in charge of the firm’s financial services activity and advises French and international banks on regulatory matters. He is “exceptionally good” at large-scale litigation. We also list Emmanuel Fontaine, an “outstanding” banking lawyer.

Real estate is a further area in which the firm excels. Frédéric Nouel is “a highly thought of” practitioner with “strong expertise” in real estate transactions and financing. A partner at the firm for 20 years, he has advised on major real estate deals for clients such as Unibail-Rodamco, Goldman Sachs, PSA Peugeot-Citroën and EDF.

Renaud Baguenault de Puchesse is a “key player” in the firm’s real estate team. He is widely known for his experience in advising on the acquisition of buildings and companies with underlying real estate assets. Eric Martin-Impératori is “always a pleasure to work with” and his experience covers a range of specialisms from real estate project financing to various production phases of a building – particularly in large-scale projects such as shopping centres and office building developments. Dispute resolution “experts” Michel Pitron and Pierre Raoul-Duval are key names in the firm’s litigation practice. Pitron has a broad range of experience in various areas of corporate law, while Raoul-Duval’s “level of professionalism” is “second to none” focusing on international contracts and litigation strategy and advocating large cases.

The firm’s arbitration practice group boasts some “absolute stars” including Christian Camboulive, a “fine lawyer” specialising in arbitration law, international contracts and international law. He acts as counsel for corporations, states and state-owned entities in domestic and international arbitration cases conducted under various rules. Carole Malinvaud is a “recognised and respected leader” and her recent work includes two major ICC arbitrations on commercial interests in Africa and on the banking sector in Europe and the Middle East.

PRO BONO

Social and environmental responsibility is a key value for the firm. Members of the firm are involved in raising awareness and tackling issues of social equity, economic efficiency and environmental protection. In addition, the firm’s strong commitment to humanitarian causes prompted the creation of the Gide pro bono programme, which is based on the values of awareness, independence, integrity and humanity.

DIVERSITY

Gide is known for being a culturally diverse firm. Its lawyers represent 35 different nationalities and are admitted to 41 bars throughout the world, illustrating Gide’s commitment to “an openness to the world beyond all borders”. The firm is also committed to ensuring that women employees can achieve their full potential in corporate law by organising in-house training programmes designed to create gender equality and implementing a number of specific programmes for female associates to support them at key stages in their careers.

Gide now has equal numbers of male and female associates and the firm has agreed on a target of achieving 30 per cent female partners by 2025.

LOOKING FORWARD

Gide is committed to strengthening its global position and will continue to meet the expectations of its international clients all the while creating a culturally diverse work environment.
